First, we’ll teach you how to choose the best jars for candles. This will help you pick the right size, shape, and material for your jar.
Size
When choosing the size of your candle jar, you have to look into how big you want your candle to be. Bear in mind that you don’t want to fill the jar to the brim with candle wax since this will make storage troublesome. This is especially true if you’re planning to sell your candles.
As a tip, we advise leaving extra space between the brim of the jar and the top of your candle – and this is the space that’s meant for the wick. Make sure that it is long enough to help the wick burn thoroughly on the first time you light it up. Otherwise, a wick that’s too short would make it hard to burn the candle completely.
To give you an idea to help you make estimates, a 9 or 10-ounce jar can comfortably contain 7 ounces of the candle. This leaves enough room for the wick, especially if you’re using a lid that also takes up space on the inside of the jar.
We also do not advise getting a jar that’s too small – unless you want to make small candles. But if that’s the case, then we recommend getting a candle with no lid and opt to have a dust cover on top of it instead. Not only is this a more practical solution, but this also helps you get more candlewax into your tiny container.
For those looking for more minimalist jars, then you might want to consider the 16-ounce Clear Glass Salsa Jars.
These jars are wide and tall enough to contain up to 9 ounces of a candle, and this is great if you prefer lighting up a candle that can last for hours. Its impressive dimensions also make it easy to clean, so disinfecting the bottle before pouring in the wax is easy.
